Auto retract parcel shelf people. I need your help please!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I’m back from the Octavia section and I’ve been fitting reverse cameras to a few Superb’s lately and I love the auto retract parcel shelf because I’m literally too lazy to open the shelf myself when the boot powers open. To that end I thought I’d take a scan from the last car I had in but my wife has accidentally deleted it somehow! So I’m wondering if any of you lovely Superb owners, preferably with a 2017 model or newer and with this option fitted could do me a huge favour and send me an autoscan of the car (with VIN blanked out if needed) so I can see what channels I need to sort to get the menu up in the radio and then I’ll get a WD and see if I can put this in the Octy.

Thanks everyone!

And for some Superb content, check out the car I had in for a camera fitting earlier in the week. What a beauty!

No problem with your admitted laziness and I totally get that if a function is there that you would want to recode & use it.

Are we talking about a parcel shelf or retractable luggage cover (roller blind thing)? and are these things now electrically operated? - No doubt with a canbus controller within, sounds like a step too far to me, how do you remove them for large loads if they are electrically operated?

Seemingly its the tech & toys that sell new cars, it has the opposite effect on me.

The retractable blind. On some Superb’s it was a cheap option or standard on the high spec ones at some point for the shelf to retract to the halfway point when the boot is opened. There are little clips in the track that release when the boot is open and a menu in the radio so I’m hunting down those little clips and the associated plugs and I imagine I’m going to need to look carefully in 09 and 5F for adaptations for the menu in the radio and then a WD from ETKA. Shame I’ve lost the scan from the car above but hopefully someone will be kind enough to post one for me to pore over.

Bit cheeky and off topic what would the reverse camera cost if you don’t mind me asking ?

This one was a OEM Highline one with washer and these are £399 fitted.

Hi Sasha. Could you give me hint about the washer part? I did install the highline camera like a month ago, but I couldn't see where the washer pipe should be connected...

Need some advice;) (Superb mk3 2016)

Thanks inadvance

Hatch or Estate? On the Estate it’s in the high level brake light. It’s a fiddly job but I insert a small tool onto the hole used to attach the trim and use that to unclip the washer connection and join the new piece to the camera with a splitter. Hatch may well be the same but I’m not sure. On the Octy hatch it’s in the wiper itself so the Superb may be the same. If you don’t have a rear wiper it’s pipework from front to back unfortunately.

Estate, and I do have the rear wiper;)

That's the thing I don't know where is the connection...

Do I have to remove the third brake light or there is something easier way to connect splitter?

I even checked the workshop tutorials I couldn't find it... Any handy picture of the connection?

Top tailgate trim has to come off and lower trim ofc to get there and if you look into the boot through one of the trim holes about 2/3rds of the way to the right of the car you’ll see it but it’s hard to see. Don’t try and take the brake light out, will break it. I can’t get a pic as I don’t own a Superb and I didn’t think to take one and it’s nigh on impossible to see anyway.
