Too early for service?

Featured Replies

I purchased my sportline plus back at the end of Jan this year.  I've put about 4,000 miles on it since purchasing it (currently has 21k on the clock).  IIRC last time I checked i'm sure it said the next service due (oil change service) was at 25k, it was last serviced at around 17k by the place I bought the car from prior to picking it up (carsupermarket).  I was just wondering if anyone could offer some advice on whether I should book in for a service maybe oct/dec time with the dealer?  The reason I ask is that the car was registered in Jan 2018 so this is the final year of the 3 year warranty, the anniversary of it's last service (end of Jan 2021) or the 25k miles listed as the next service point will be outside of the warranty.   Can i just book it in early to get serviced so that anything picked up that may need doing to it (hopefully nothing due to low mileage and only 4k miles done since i bought it) can be sorted under warranty.  I'm assuming that I will also need to get it MOT'd in time for the 3rd year anniversary of the date it was registered (sorry I've never owned a car this new before)?

My adblue range is also showing as 2000 so will most likely need to get that topped up at some point soon.  Do people just do their own or is it best done by a garage?  My mate at work's stepdad has his own garage where I've taken my cars in the past but my last car was a 13 year old nissan x-trail so I was quite happy for him to do any work that needed rather than the nissan dealer as he would have been way cheaper.  I'm guessing he would need to use approved Skoda parts to avoid invalidating my current warranty if I were to take it to him to get serviced/mot'd and have any work done by him.

Is it worth extending my dealer warranty when it expires next Jan or is this just a waste of time?  Just curious as to what people on here do...assuming you keep your cars that long of course.  I'm planning on keeping this for at least another 2-3 years....absolutely love it.

I would definitely service early to get in before the warranty expires.

How much is the extended warranty where you live?
