Wouldnt start.....then did...odd!

Featured Replies

Hi all

Love the site and have found a lot of answers to my many questions without the need to post..so far!

I have a S3 L&K DSG with which I have had no issues...until now!  Had the car from new in May 2019 and have covered 32k unevenful miles.  Parked up the other day as usual. Returned to car a few hours later to find that when I hit the start button, the starter motor span up and kept trying to start the car but couldnt or at least didnt.  Did this a few times and no error messages appeared which I thought was odd.  I went through process of turning car off, locking, unlocking but the same thing kept happening.  The only thing that was different on the previous journey was that I had to switch off the child locks to let my rear seat passenger out.  In frustration I hit the child lock buttons again and then the car started.  Not sure if this was just a fluke and not related but thats what happened.

Was just wondering if anybody else had anything similar happen to them, ie starter motor spins incessantly but car does not fire up?  Hasnt happened again by the way, well so far!

Thanks in advance.

Had this happen once for maybe 2 years ago.

Didn't want to start, just spun the starter, no ignition whatsoever.

Kept trying for a few minutes, gave up and went inside to call a tow truck.

Remembered that I had the Skoda mobility guarantee and that button to get in touch with someone to help.

Went out again to push the button, before I did I thought that it wouldn't hurt trying to start the car ones more before getting in contact with whoever answers that button.

One push on start and everything worked as normal, never happened again since that day.

Mine is a 2017 L&K Dsg6 190tdi 4x4

Can't help but if it's a repeatable fault (or characteristic as car makers call them) then it's a great anti theft device!
