Help !!!

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

My best mates 8 year old son was cleaning his car (A new Furby vrs) and the little bugger went and used a green cleaning pad on a small patch before I saw him and stopped him.

I have tried to buff this small area roughly about 3 inch x 2 inch ...It has left slight arbrasions in a circular type shape on the boot.

I tried using a very good turtle wax that I have but it is still slightly dull.

Is there anything on the market that could restore this little patch to its former glory.

I am looking after him and his dad will be none to pleased if he see's it....

aaaaaaaaaaaaaghhhh any ideas

Thanks

Robbie :(

You could try using Brasso metal polish with a very soft cloth - perhaps cotton wool. Use a very small amount of liquid and try rubbing an area of paint which is out of sight, such as the inside of the door frame or under the bonnet, very gently to see whether or not the finish is adversely affected. It works on non-metallic finishes but may not be so good on metallics - particularly silver.

thanks dennis it is metallic black but will give it a shot.

Any ideas of any commerical waxes or paint restorers on the market ??

It's possible that something like "T-Cut" might bring the shine back. I've had some success in the past (maybe before the modern "environmentally-friendly" paints were introduced - they don't seem to be as hard-wearing as the old paints). Just apply like a normal polish over the affected area and buff off (in STRAIGHT LINES - you don't want to add any swirl marks!).
