Tow bar electrics - how can I tell if my car has the wiring loom?

Featured Replies

I'm trying to find out whether my 2008 Octavia 4x4 might have had the towing electrics wiring fitted in the factory as an option. The car has loads of factory fitted optional extras on it (I'm still discovering things after 18 months) so I want to check on the off chance that it has had it fitted - if so, I'd like to get a towbar fitted but if not, I can't justfiy the £400 outlay just for the wiring so I won't bother.

Is there any way to find out without dismantling the car? If I were to contact Skoda would they be able to tell me how it was spec'd originally?

Cheers!

If you can get the build data for your car, it will show if you have a PR code for towbar preparation.

A dealer might provide this if you ask nicely otherwise you can get it from Erwin for €7+vat. You can also check the sticker in the boot but that tends to be an incomplete list so the PR codes absence doesn't mean it's not fitted ;)

Exactly what I was going to suggest, I learnt a lot about my last Skoda from the build data including that it was made for the Cyprus market and brought to the UK as a grey import.
