Weird hollow sound while the car is slowly rolling

Featured Replies

Hey,

I have a strange one, getting a weird, hollow sound (from somewhere in front of the car) I can hear it when the car is slowly rolling, especially like when driving in a traffic jam. You could hear that in the video below, starting from 0:20.

Anyone has any clue what could cause this or maybe someone had similar issue to me?

Cheers for any tips,

Tomasz

sorry forgot to put car details, it's Skoda, Octavia MK2 (MY12, 4x4, DSG, 2.0 TDI with Common Rail CFHC engine code)

Sounds like something road speed related, such as a tyre rubbing on a loose wheel arch liner perhaps.

Disc backplate self composted.

I'm going to say a sticking brake caliper is causing the pads to scuff the disc.

Try splashing each disc individually with water and seeing if the sound changes, when it does you've sourced the problem.
