Dash bubble

Featured Replies

This is an ongoing warranty issue. What's your thoughts on how it got there in the first place ?

Almost certainally slipped through the inspection net at VAG's supplier.

Could be air the was trapped in there during manufacture and the bubble was on there all along, or the air has been released from the inner material and collected under the outer layer. If the latter then it could have looked perfect when it was first fitted to the car.

If only you worked at my local Skoda dealership

Excellent reply and highly plausible, cheers. (now I can go in there and pretend I'm an expert) :D

Whats their story then?

Well, they have up to know said nothing but scratch their heads when I was in there last.

Just said 'no idea how that would have got there' and 'you haven't stuck anything on the dash have you' ?

It is being replaced under warranty (just 4 weeks wait for the part) as well as the rear seats which have the 'obligatory' crinkles in the fabric.

I did mention this in an earlier thread a while back, but I am still a little concerned that when they replace the dash, it will squeak & rattle. But to be honest, (and i'm sure you'll agree) the bubble does look a bit of an eyesore.

Just hope it's ok when they fit the new one.

They took my dash right out to cure the creak. I wouldnt worry about it rattling afterwards. It probably wont. Mine didnt. Get it done or you'll regret it

It's down to where you work Jon.

It's been infected.

There's an alien under there , waiting to burst out, when you least expect it.................................................................................................................................... AAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!

I think I'm going mad:confused:

Our Seat Leon did exactly the same thing, unfortunately it didn't do it till after the warranty had run out!

The dash just blistered up in the heat of a hot sunny day once, never had anything stuck there so it must just be where some air or gasses are trapped in the foam underneath, then somehow, when the heat builds up under the vinly, it must expand and cause the blister.

I fixed ours by heating the dash with a hair dryer a bit, pricking a tiny hole in the bubble with a pin then squirting some contact adhesive inside the bubble, looks perfect now, and I cant even find the exact spot where it was!

this is unrelated but many years ago whe i was younger (lets say 11 years ago)... I had a Renault 5 GTL with a beige(sand) coloured dash board... and one hot day id lft said car in the sun for a lot of the day and i came back to find that there was a huge bubble on the oddments tray in front of the passenger side......cused by the heat on the dashboard......
