L & K missing features

Featured Replies

I recently purchased a Skoda Superb. I got the L & K trim thinking that it would contain all / most of the driver assist features. One of the main reasons for getting the vehicle was for the driver assist features.

I know that there is no traffic sign recognition, disappointingly, however I don't think there is  traffic jam assist either. I have a dsg lane assist is on with adaptive as well as adaptive cruise control, which independently both work. However co me omg down from 60mph to a stop I am sure I wasn't stationary for longer than 13s and I had to press the pedal for it to go again.

I've looked at the "sticker" in the boot and none of the options on there indicate to anything related to lane assist or anything.

So looks like I may have to get / borrow vcds to turn them on. But before I do, is there anything I can do to check further. Is there some Skoda vin build spec decoder I can use to check what features are in the vehicle? Maybe one of the lovely members here have access?

TJA active or not, ACC won't automatically resume if the car is stopped for more 3 secs.  U need to resume by tapping the accelerator or pulling the cruise control stalk to resume.

As I said in a previous post - if u have TJA, the adaptive lane guidance will continue to work with ACC even if u drop below 65km/h.

If u don't have TJA, the adaptive lane guidance will stop working below 65 km/h and only ACC will continue to b active.

Look on the brightside, if it's a MY16 L&K then you probably have the built-in TV. In later years it became an optional extra then was dropped completely.

Now I'm upset even more! I don't have a TV tuner either!!

Isn't it true that tja 1.5 you can stop for 13 seconds? In that case I will test this and report back. Where i live, the town roads don't exactly have road markings on both sides usually, only in the centre.

No, there is no TJA that can stop for 13 secs.

U r getting confused with the adaptive lane guidance which can steer for 13 secs, hands free, before ur asked to put ur hands on the steering wheel.

If I don't put ur hands on the wheel, u get another warning another 13 secs later. If u don't listen again, it will get ****ed off n slam on the brakes to "shock" u.  It keeps going.......

Okay my mistake. I just assumed the vw description would carry across that I found here...

Slamming brakes .. I hope I never have to find out ..

V1.5 would b for the newer facelift models, which have the second gen A5 camera and also have predictive-ACC.

That clears it all up... I'll test the below 60km / 40mph thing today and feedback.

Okay so first time I tried it as usual it kicks in after when I was over 40mph..

I have a feeling that the green lane assist signs came on before when I was below 40 mphs too, but I cannot be certain. However now (I haven't really tried in the motorway) it doesn't. However after reaching over 40mph and then reducing the speed below to say about 35, the LA stays on until it cannot detect anymore again.

So I have to ask the question again, does TJA only work after you've reached a speed of 40mph and then slowed down or should it work driving off from a stand still regardless of speed.

TJA will work at ALL speeds, provided ACC is active and ALG can see at least one side of road lane markings.

below r some scenarios where I can activate TJA:-

1. ACC = InactiveALG = ActiveTJA = Inactive. Car is travelling at 30 km/h.

When i activate ACC, TJA is activated, provided ALG can see lane markings, i.e. green.

2. ACC = InactiveALG = ActiveTJA = Inactive. Car is stopped.

I activate ACC, TJA is activated once i tap the accelerator or resume to get going.

3. ACC = Active(80 km/h);  ALG = ActiveTJA = Active. Car is travelling at 80 km/h.

Traffic builds up, speed drops to 50 km/h, TJA continues to remain active
Traffic comes to a stop, TJA continues to remain active.

ACC automatically gets the car moving again as car was stopped for less than 3 secs, TJA continues to remain active.

4. ACC = Active(80 km/h);  ALG = InactiveTJA = Inactive. Car is travelling at 80 km/h.

When I activate ALG, TJA is activated, provided ALG can see lane markings, i.e. green.

5. ACC = Active(40 km/h);  ALG = InactiveTJA = Inactive. Car is travelling at 40 km/h.

When I activate ALG, TJA is activated, provided ALG can see lane markings, i.e. green.

6. ACC = Active(80 km/h);  ALG = ActiveTJA = Active. Car is travelling at 70 km/h.

ALG looses sight of lane markings, causing ALG to become inactive.  As a result TJA is deactivated.

7. ACC = InactiveALG = ActiveTJA = Inactive. Car is travelling at 80 km/h.

Traffic builds up, i slow down, speed drops to 50 km/h.
ALG is deactivated, i.e. amber, because speed has dropped below 65 km/h and because ACC is not active, hence TJA is not active either.

This video shows real life TJA in action as well

Thank you @JR RS very detailed. I think what I missed was that tja is only active when acc is active below 60km.

On a second note, I looked at my stalk yesterday no auto rain sensing wipers? What's that about? Do Skoda not give that s standard?!

The first notch up, "INT", is auto

Wipers should be auto. Any setting away from off is default auto.

Only thing I find is the system poll (detection) interval is long so if windscreen is wet when you start the car, it doesn't wipe until sometime after. I normally have to push the stalk for it to start activating then it behaves automatically.

Different from my previous car which just works. Never had to touch anything.

I thought that was just intermittent, where it wipes every few seconds, changeable by the stalk. (Taking that's how other cars do it)

Actually this is it. That's where my stalk stays. To activate I push it up then back down.

I think you have to go into the preferences to select auto wiping. I deselected auto wiping, because I like to decide for myself when the wipers move.

So in a nutshell can I get travel assist inc adaptive lane assist as per below on my MY21 L and K iV. I ordered it with traffic sign recognition and it has predictive cruise control.

Can my dealer do this upgrade. Will my car have all the required sensors?

I'm pretty sure all L&K use to come with lane assist anyway?

But if for whatever reason to doesn't, as long as you have the camera, which the traffic sign recognition needs you should be okay.

I don't know if the dealer will do it, but anybody with vcds should be able to do it. Or if they do they'll probably charge you more for it

The mk3.5 Superb is different (hardware wise) when it comes to ACC and the A5 camera, so u can't assume the same things as found with coding/changes with the pre-facelift Superb.

I thought lane assist was standard on L&K?

I've got lane assist where the car resists crossing a white line but not adaptive lane assist where it steers itself between the white lines!

If I am not mistaken, that's an option that needs to be turned on via the main screen on the dash. It should be under Car>Settings>Driver Assist Features

In there scroll down to Lane assist and you will see you have lane assist ticked but adaptive lane assist unticked.

Just had a look. Its not there. Only lane assist (lane keeping system). No mention of adaptive lane assist.

It is part of the travel assist package which was not on my order. I ordered the TSR package only.
