After removing & replacing the passenger airbag (to replace blower motor resistor), the airbag warning light is on (not flashing). When switching on the ignition, the warning light comes on, goes off for a second, then comes on again, which according to the manual means that the passenger airbag is switched off.

 

I have double checked the airbag connector. My model does not have the switch which allows you to turn off the passenger airbag.

 

I'd be very grateful for any suggestions!

This generally happens if the ignition is switched on whilst the airbag is disconnected.  Needs VCDS to clear the fault I believe.

My resistor pack has to be replaced as speed 1 has gone. It is recommended to disconnect the battery whilst doing so. Are there any problems caused by the disconnection of the battery?

 

I'm a complete novice at this stuff, and the only problem I had was the airbag warning light issue (above). I haven't got it reset yet so I can't advise on that. Otherwise fine.
