Park Pilot and Park Assist

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I have a 2014 elegance with both park assist and park pilot. The other morning I went to strike the car up and I had a high pitched noise and the P and cone symbol was flashing. I put car in reverse and just a red ! at the rear sensor graphic. I cleaned all the sensors but no joy. After a couple.of days I explored the settings in the infotainment system, I un-ticked the 'automatically launch park pilot (or park assist) and remember the exact wording, but all park assist and park pilot is working fine when activating by the reverse gear or pressing the button by the gear knob. If you tick the box in the infotainment system it all fails again. Anyone have any ideas?

You need to get it scanned with VCDS (or OBD Eleven or Carista) to see what fault has occurred.  Check the Vcds forum and you'll find a link to a map with VCDS owners (like me). There might be someone local that might do a scan for you.

This sounds like one of your reversing sensors has failed....it is a known issue on MK2's, but this is the first I've heard about on a MK3.  The other option is that the system has somehow got out of sync (if your park pilot is still working).  Definitely sounds your car needs to be code read to find out what the error is:

Look at this link:

and select VCDS.  I own a VCDS system, so can code read, but there are others who are way closer.  Two in Aberdeenshire and one in Nairn.

We had a front sensor fail on our 2015 Elegance with the same symptoms - fortunately it happened a month before the end of the 3 year warranty so we got it fixed under warranty (after arguing with Marshalls that it was covered under the warranty).
