Chirp/cricket noise on acceleration

Featured Replies

Hey all, I've had this strange noise in my 17 Superb Sportline and I'm not sure if it's normal or not. The best way to describe it is when accelerating slowly it sounds like there's a cricket chirping somewhere behind the dash. When I spoke to Skoda they mentioned something about the fuel pump and to keep an eye on it. It seems to get slightly louder as I accelerate

Has anyone else heard anything similar? I've seen water pump issues but not sure if this is the same or not.

Does to disappear at high speeds? Is it low pitched to begin with and then gets higher and higher as you accelerate?

Could be the same as this post ... https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/480999-weird-noise-with-higher-rpm/?do=findComment&comment=5409133

Hi,

Had v similar sound on the driver's side that only occurred under acceleration. Assumed it was something to do with the instrumentation. Noticeable only to the driver (me) not annoying enough for passengers to take notice. The sound vanished of its own accord after about 20,000 miles. Doubt the clicking sound is connected to mileage done, but it did disappear by itself. L an K 150ps diesel 4x4. Hope it helps.

Hi @dfirman, did you ever find the source/fix this? I think I'm starting to occasionally hear similar on '18 model. Thanks

Interesting, the linked topic was TDI engine, so not sure if the solution of rubber grmoits carries across to the TSI engines?

I have an irritating whirring, quite high pitched and quite quiet.  Seems to be more obvious wen the engine is cold (although I may just tune it out after a while).  It goes away if I turn to the right but of the wheel is even a little bit left of centre it starts.

The car is quite quiet overall which makes this ever more of an irritant.

Does anyone know if there is a TSI solution, or is my noise totally different?
