Timing belt or chain? change interval

Recommended Posts

I have a 2016 Superb 2litre 190ps dsg 4X4 estate, first registered on 2nd Feb 2016, its now just racked up 50k miles, my question is; does his engine have a camshaft timing belt or is it a timing chain?

If it is a timing belt, what is the belt change intervals? I've got it in my head that its 50k or 5 years, whichever comes sooner.

any info would be gratefully received

Strange - when the dealer had to look it up for mine they had to convert from kilometres (from the main Skoda information online I think) and ended up at 75,000 miles (1.6 Diesel).  Not that I was worried as it's a company car and they paid, but for something so fundamental I find it odd there isn't detail in the service book and it's all down to asking around on forums like this!

Thanks to all who responded.

I went to my dealer today & they confirmed that the timing belt change on my   2litre tdi 190ps is % years or 140,000 miles, whichever is the sooner.

As the car is 5 years old next Feb, I've booked it in for the belt, tensioner & water pump to be changed next January + its MOT & possibly its inspection service (if due, its on a variable service regime)
