CITIGOe iV Ambition SE - charging at 7.2kW/hr

Featured Replies

Has anyone with a CITIGOe iV Ambition SE (i.e. the base model with no CCS) managed to charge it at 7.2kW/hr?

Normally 3.6kW/hr seems to be the maximum, but I read on another forum that a software upgrade to the BMS (whatever that is?) enabled this to be increased.

Alternatively, can anyone give me a contact in Skoda (or main dealer) who actually understands the technical detail of battery charging?

Many thanks!

Just contact Skoda UK Customer Services and ask them to get an Adult that knows about it or even a young child to get back in touch with you.

Your local Dealership or the one that supplied the car must have someone in the Service Department or the Workshop that can read the TPI they got from Skoda or if not can use a keyboard or telephone and talk to an appropriate person @ Skoda UK.

Thanks - I've done so and have been given a case number. Someone is supposed to get back to me within 48 hours, so fingers crossed.

Have you heard back?

I've been given a case number and the promise of a call on Monday (19/10) - I'll post any response I get

It's booked in for the software upgrade on Friday (23/10), but whether this actually fixes the problem remains to be seen...

Still waiting for info from Skoda, after they called me 5 weeks ago about the upgrade, how did yours go?

This is interesting, and explains why the cable is changed:

Thanks for posting this - they are making a real song and dance about it at the dealership and have said I won't get the car back until Tuesday at the earliest!

It's now Wednesday - they have tried to apply the upgrade, but are getting an error message - they've escalated to Skoda UK.

I have received an email from Skoda UK promising a new cable.

The upgrade has now been completed without error messages, but the car still does not charge at a rate greater than 3.6kW/h.

I'm not convinced that there are any Citigo's out there charging at 7.2kW/hr on A.C. supplies.

Unless anyone knows different?

Did they give you an upgraded cable to go with it? I understand the original cables were 16 amp but to get 7.2Kw charge rate you need a cable rated at 32amp.

Not yet, but I have been promised one.

Fingers crossed the correct cable will complete the fix and you get 7.2Kw charging.

My PoPoint Solo home charger with tethered cable is fully rated for 7.2 kW/h charging, but it still only charges at 3.6, so Skoda are investigating why the upgrade appears not to have worked.

Did you get a solution to the charging? My dealer has tried twice now and it is still only charging at 3.7kW/h.

No - they've had 3 tries now with no effect. I have raised the matter with Skoda UK and got the following reply:

Dear
Thank you for your email.
I apologise that this has seemingly not resolved the charging issue for you. I will contact my colleague who has specialised in this recall to find out why this may be before coming back to you with a response.
Thank you for your patience with regards to this matter.
Kind regards

Hi , Have Skoda admitted yet it won't work? Still no joy with ours.

I asked Skoda for an update and received the following reply:

Thank you for your email.
Please accept my apologies for the delay in my response.
We are still in the process of carrying out investigations, as things stand we have been unable to identify any faults with the CITIGOe iV software or the 32 AMP charge cables.
Our technical team are working hard to identify your concerns and the potential cause before being able to subsequently provide a resolution.
Once I am able to provide a further update I will be in contact right away.
Thank you for your patience.

Kind regards

Ah, the standard reply from Skoda no matter what the query. I wouldn't hold your breath.
