Borbet alloys mk3 octavia - standard wheel nuts?

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I purchased a set of Borbet VTX graphite polished 8,00x18 5x112,00 fir my mk3 octavia

I went to get them fitted this morning and the guys at the tyre centre felt that the wheels were slightly on the short side and could damage the alloy

I contacted the company I bought from and they assured me the standard nuts were fine

So..I was just going to go to halfords or somewhere and buy a standard set for the skoda and try my luck again..Or has anyone else got advice on what to do

The wheels on the octavia are 16" normal wheels

Thanks

Darren

Sorry Wheel nuts were slightly on the short side

Put a wheel bolt through a hole on the standard alloy and measure how much thread comes through the back.

Do the same for a new wheel.

If they are about the same, it's probably fine. If it's much shorter on the new wheel, get some longer bolts :)

Count how many turns it takes to do up each wheel bolt with the new alloy rims. I would want at least 6.5 to 7 turns otherwise you may need longer wheel bolts. Also compare the number of turns to the original rims.

Thanks for the advice folks - got them fitted  - went to another tyre shop that sell wheel studs aswell , but they said everything was fine with the studs I had . I also rang the online supplier who also said they should be fine.

Anyway - here it is - sorry for the bad pic
