Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have yeti since may this year and its been going well until lately, I noticed few problems with electric, randomly on dash there is icon that my rear light is not working I check and its not working then another day its ok but if its not light then my fans in ac will not working, this start happening recently if its one then other is ok, is there a common intermittent fault maybe on electric somewhere? Worth to checking fuses ?

I has been replaced shortly after I purchased the car as the diagnostic showed that battery failed, also now the fan stopped working and not coming on at all, I am going to open it today and see if its faulty fan, I also got all the fuses checked and all of them are fine

Thanks

First thing to check is resting battery voltage.
When battery was replaced was it replaced with exactly the same battery, if not was it programmed to the car?

Probably not required at that age of vehicle Urrell, my 2015 does not have any of that rubbish thankfully.

Pedant alert, in case the OP does not understand, for later vehicles with stop-start systems there may be a requirement to recode the vehicles battery management module to suit the new battery but a battery cannot be programmed to a vehicle.

When battery was installed it in Halfords under warranty and they used their own brand, not 100% if they programmed it

mine has stop and start and that was reason I got battery replaced as it was not working so they replaced battery and its ok, it not always stop the engine when I stop but I heard that the case?

should the stop and start works every time I stop? or car decide on it? when I purchased the car stop and start wasn't working at all so Halfords changed the battery and since then its working but not always, I have booked appointment with the Halfords to look at this, maybe its cheap rubbish battery they gave me (this was done under warranty from dealership)

Thanks

Then the appropriate module on the vehicle should have been reprogrammed to suit the new battery.

Hi Peter, there is quite a number of things that will prevent the engine from shutting down at idle - cabin temperature or A/c not at commanded temperature, Too high electrical load/ low battery voltage, etc. I think there is a fuller list elsewhere on this forum.

Absolutely, there are many things that prevent the stop/start working, all of them relating to engine management and/or battery condition. It is basically designed to protect the engine and battery. For example if you drive at high speed on a motorway and then come to a sudden halt usually the engine keeps running until turbocharger etc have cooled down. I have stopped worrying about stop/start and just let it look after itself.

Yet my 2015 car DID require it, since my the car was fitted with the Stop/Start system.

And I note that the OP has stated he is using Halfrauds for this work. That makes me shudder!! I would suggest that you find a better place; I am sure that there will be a VAG expert in that area, (Fareham)

I hadn't appreciated how lucky I was to have dodged that bullet Graham!

Thank you will that’s a good explanation

Only went there as the warranty company was contracted to Halfords and they are local and I am fully aware they not the best!
