Can anyone advise whether or not it is possible to replace a damaged radiator grill on Yeti 2016 model easily and without the need to remove the front bumper?

 

My local main dealer has quoted £196 labour cost, adding that they " may" have to remove the front bumper, hence the labour time/cost.

 

Online searching so far suggests that it should be possible, but having removed the top edge 2 x Torx screws and 4 x pop fasteners, it is not at all clear how to go further

 

My fear is of breaking / damaging the surrounding mouldings with brute force!

 

Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes it absolutely can be removed leaving the bumper in situ.

 

After removing the fixings you need to release the clips from the bumper to remove the grille & surround as one unit, then more clips to seperate them from each other.

 

If you are hoping to save the grille surround then you will need patience and determination in equal measure.

 

The inner grille, the slatted part costs around £60 IIRC and was one of the most expensive parts of my rebuild, it may even have been £80.

 

The dealer will charge you for the surround and the inner as the mechanics wont have the patience or skill to seperate them and they are there to sell parts not to do difficult tasks for their £196.

 

It would take me 10 minutes to remove and replace the grille and surround as one unit.

I managed to remove the  Torx screws at each end of the grill top edge and the 4 pop fasteners. The difficulty I find is that nothing wants to move easily and I do not want to force / break any parts.

 

You mention the bumper clips. Where do I find these?

Mine was the black grille which is more expensive than the chrome one shown there (go figure!) and cost me £57.93 from TPS with 8% discount which was given right off the bat without ever being asked for. Retail price £62.97.
