Headlight washer delay or number of washers before activation - OBDeleven

Featured Replies

Hi I tried to change the number of activations before the headlight washers kicked in from 10 to 20 OR change the delay so I have to hold the stalk for 2 seconds ie 0ms to 2000ms

However, when I follow the various online instructions I've seen for VCDS or OBDEleven, I don't have the right options. And when I selected Frontwash (in german) it said "Not active". But I do have headlight washers and they work!

What am I doing wrong? Anyone got a step by step?

So far I have tried

  1. Select ‘09’ Central Electrics
  2. Select ‘Adaptation’
  3. Scroll to ‘Scheinwerferreinigung’.
  4. Change the value under ‘SRA Verzoegerungszeit’ from ‘0 ms’ to ‘2000 ms’.
  5. Green tick to Confirm

But I don't have a Scheinwerferreinigung option

I also tried

1. Go to [09] Central Electronics
2. Go to Access permissions
3. Enter access code 31347
4. Go to adaptation channels
5. Front_Wash_Function
6. Change value, but get error Not available.

And when I select Front_Wash_Fuction I get "Not Active"

You don't have to have the headlights on or anything daft do you?

thanks!

Nick

the headlights do have to be on for them to activate a wash.

No, sorry, I meant the headlights don't have to be on for the option to show in OBDeleven as it seems to think I don't have headlight washers when I do

No, I fiddled the settings on my old Scout so it did them every 3rd pull of the stalk.  You dont need lights on to programme it.  So how often do they wash currently?

Don't know, never counted, but it seems a lot! :) I'm filling up the washer fluid a lot anyway. It's not the end of the world, I can live with it, I was just looking to change it.

I'm just curious why I don't have the option in OBDeleven when I clearly have headlight washers. Does it matter that my car is 2015 (65 plate) maybe something changed?

Nick

In mine (MY16) every tenth pull it operates but I am aware older cars were more often and drink fluid as you seem to suffer.

It's odd that OBD 11 cannot see it. Its not like it's a new mod either. Anyone got vcds near you?

Mine was 65 plate and mine was every 10th pull as well.

If my memory serves me correctly, the option isn’t actually where the guide says it is. I’ll nip out and try to grab some screenshots (although I seem to recall I’ve done this before and posted up here). Anyway.

Ah ha. I knew I’d done this before.

Edit:  Oh, I see you’ve tried this already. Hmm...

I actually read the OP this time...

In mine it works the first time you use it and then every tenth time, so long as the ignition is on.

It forgets how many times you have used it every time you turn the ignition off.

So every morning it will work the first time, if the headlights are on.

So if you don't want it to work turn the headlights off.

Thanks, AG Falco

Added the last line.

what does byte 13 bit 3 say in STG 9? If that's set to 0 then VCDS probably believes you have no SWRA (Scheinwerferreinigungsanlage) (this is from the original OneNote notebook which contains pretty much everything).

For me it's every third or so spray of the screen and it's supposed to be changeable as above.

Ah, yes I saw this thanks. But I don't have:

That option is just not there.... nothing, nada, zilch. Which is odd as I have headlight washers!!

I have no idea what that means, sorry! :) I have OBDEleven

Anyway, look: What does this mean?

Have you used any of the ‘apps’ to change anything in the past?

I love apps that don't give you full information. Not.

That screenshot says clearly that headlamp wash is not activated. Or there's no adaptation active, it's not clear from the interface language. I don't think you can resolve this without either going into long coding or switching to VCP / VCDS.
