OBDEleven newbie

Featured Replies

I know, I know this has probably been done to death. But, I'm looking for help with OBDEleven.

I've recently bought one with the pro licence to use with my iphone on my 2017 FL VRS TDI but from what I gather on here I should avoid the pre made "apps" to make modifications. I see people talk about long coding things but not sure where I find out how to do this.

The main things I would like to do immediately is High Beam Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition and then after that once I've figure out what I'm doing I'll look to do more. Could any one help me out or point me in the direction of where I could find some step by step instructions on how to do it?

Thanks in advance.

You need to do it via the adaptations. Connect the app to the device, press scan to scan the modules and then access the relevant modules to makes the required changes. There's a stickie in this forum with instructions for the things you want to do (HBA and TSR).

If you need further help, just shout.

You’d be better starting off doing something like enabling rear DRL and changing the comfort indicator flash from 3 to 4. They’re easier to do and will give you a feel of what’s what, albeit they’re not done using long coding. HBA and TSR are two of the more difficult changes to make (IMO).

Don't forget to take a backup before you start modifying.

It ain't quick but could be very useful. 🤞🤞👍👍

Yes, all good advice, take a backup of all modules before you start and then if anything goes awry you can revert back to previous settings. I maintain an excel spread sheet for each module that has all of the settings (imported from the text files created by backup) with the default value, the modified value and, in a lot of cases, the English translation of the German terms. It makes it easier to see what you have modified and what you haven't and gives me peace of mind:

When the ODBEleven backup is taken, where in the phone is it stored?

Good question and I'm not sure, what I do is generate the log and then email it to my email account. If my memory serves me right there's an icon (looks like an envelope) top right of the screen for this purpose.

Thanks for all the replies, I’ll have a dabble tomorrow and hopefully not brick my motor 🤣.

I've been able to make adaptions like fog lights with main beam and duel rear fog lights without the pro license, not sure what benefit you get for buying the pro pack? Is it just the backups?

If you need any help shout, I've had it a few years now and just log on every day to get 1 free credit so haven't spent a penny more.
