Is this part easy to fit?

Featured Replies

I've managed to get a spare gear selector rod after snapping the thread in mine.

Does anyone know how easy it is to fit?

It would I be better off letting the garage do it?

what engine is it?

I removed mine yesterday (pd130 ASZ engine) and was a piece of cake. IIRC a couple of 13mm’s on the top and a 17 on the side, then pulls up.

sorry it from a 2004 vrs td. thats a bit worrying, i took it out of a car and didnt undo the 17mm on the side.  does it just slot in, do the bolts up attatch the linkages and its good to go?

its the fitting im more interested in

Go here, click Download this file, select 0A8 gearbox, download that and there's probably some relevant info in there that may help

Looks like pdf page 83 is the start of the relevant bits.

apart from sayin "Gearshift shaft  with cover  can be installed or removed with the gearbox mounted." it doesnt mention any specifics based on what jars has said hopefullf it will just slot in

Yeah, sorry. I thought there'd be more detail; guess there isn't much to it.

No, there really isn’t anything to it. Make sure you remove that 17 on the side and it should just a push in, maybe with a little wiggle

will do. at least that explains why it was difficult to pull out of the other car

2 updates :

1. So much easier to remove when that side bolt is removed. And it 16mm

2. All fitted just need to take it for a test drive.

the local skoda specialist said it would be a new gearbox. Makes you wonder
