Scout CV joint

Featured Replies

Hi there, just registered.

Both my outer CV joints are due for a replacement, with drivers side being the first. In the parts catalog i order parts from I see that there's a CV joint for the Scout particularly and then there are some for the regular Roomster. Its also twice as expensive as the regular one.

Can anyone confirm that the Scout has a different CV joint due to being higher that a regular Roomster?

I suspect mine has been fitted with regular ones as I randomly get a weird clunk in the front suspension while low speed cornering, when the wheel has up and down movement. Suspension parts are nice and tight afaik.

I can't see why a Scout would be any different, engine and transmission might make a difference but trim I very much doubt.

Worth emailing Briskoda parts with the vehicle reg to make sure you get the correct parts.

The Scout has 41mm higher clearance than the regular Roomster. That would mean the regular joint operates at a slightly different angle than nominal when installed in a Scout. Could be the reason both of them have failed and would explain the weird clunk as at excessive wheel travel the joint has deal with a bigger angle, lets say, than it is meant to.

But then again, its just a theory of mine.

When I look up outer CV joints for 2009 Roomster with BLS engine, there are two pages both showing the same part numbers (for item 24, outer CV) as far as I can see

https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/roomster/ro/2009-481/4/407-407027/#24

https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/roomster/ro/2009-481/4/407-407025/#24

Both have the part number 6Q0 498 099 E, and the same with an X on the end which just means an exchange part (some money back when you return the old one).

I think you'll find Scout is mechanically identical to S and SE models, the only differences being trim.

Unlike S and SE models, Scout models came with roof rails - which might account for the additional 41mm of height.

A little research shows thats actually the case - CV joints are the same, thank you for clearing this up.
