2017 Skoda Superb vs BMW

Featured Replies

I am just about to put a deposit on a 2017 2.0 TDI Skoda Superb Estate SE L Executive.

My friend is desparately persuading me to get a BMW 320D Touring (estate) instead. These can be had for similar money (but maybe 15000 more miles) but its not clear exactly what spec you would be getting as I know BMWs vary alot due to the options.

I don't really need the space of the Skoda but I do like that it appears to be quite luxurious and the space will come in handy - I often fill my current Mondeo hatchback up with all sorts of crap (had a piano in there the other day :D :D )

The BMW would have a bit more power and better dynamics.

I'm actually surprised to find these cars are competing on price.. I would expect the BMW to be more expensive. So why are the used Superbs commanding a bit of a premium?

They are 'Asking prices' you are looking at, and that does not mean what you have to pay prices.

Skoda dealers often ask more than a car is worth because like hens teeth, or they were paying too much for them at the end of lease.

The BMW's are plentiful, and the service at 3 years is expensive. (no more than Skoda are.)

BMW Dealers and traders need to shift the out of manufacturers warranty ones as the deals are pretty good on buying or leasing new ones.

I have had a Superb sportline  estate for nearly 3 years, fantastic car and suitable for 3 kids, bikes, dog etc.. I always tell people it's the thinking mans German car.. The SEL is bound to be far better specced than a 3 series. adaptive cruise, larger infotamment etc etc..  I've never been a BMW fan and even the ridiculous price of run flat tyres is enough to put me off..
