NOx & remap.

Featured Replies

Heres one for you guys.  I had the car remapped earlyer this year. Only lately in the last month / 6 weeks the engine managment light has come on a couple of times. Had the car read the other week. Report came back something to do with the NOx sensor.

Does any one think that that the remap has some how affected the Nox sensor?

If its the sensor that is playing up does any one know if 1 the remap would / will affect the warrenty

2 if it's not covered by warrenty does any one know how much it'll cost to replace at all?

Mine is a 19  plate & a 2 liter diesel.

Wouldn't be a surprise if the remap has increased NOx production considerably. Find out more specific fault code info and consult remapper?

the nox sensor is there to measure the amount of nox either before or after the dpf. It should have be able to deal with a higher nox reading than the car would normally produce. as i understand it the remap may be producing more NOX emissions than standard but the nox sensor should be able to cope with this. Nox sensor do fail but you haven't said what the failure or fault code is.

not sure if the remap will affect the warranty and im not sure of costs

I dont know what the code is at the moment  as the car is at the dealer in Colne. Normally use the dealer at Northampton.

@Stuart-h - Who did you use for the re-map? If / when the dealership identify that the car has been remapped, they may directly attribute the 'fault' to the map and will charge for it outside of warranty.

Wouldn't know costs of replacement / fix, as they haven't yet identified the root cause yet.

It would be worth calling the re-map company to query if they've experienced this sort of issue post-map before with other customers, and if there is a fix for it. If not, it's still useful information for them so that they can log these sorts of issues to identify any trends going forward.

@Stuart-h

?

Did you speak with them at Phantom Tuning first before the car went into a dealer?

Is the car in with you having the understanding you might have to pay for the diagnosis?

?

Did you tell them it has a remap?

If they say that any drive train / exhaust emissions system faults  would have been covered by warranty but since it is remapped they are not, then that is just how things are.
