How do reversing sensors work on Fabias

Featured Replies

Do you get a schematic of the rear view on screen when you select reverse gear, so that you get a visual clue as well as an audio clue about objects behind you? Also does anyone have a rear camera on their Fabia and how well is it working. We are thinking of buying a new Fabia but in lockdown we now cannot test these features - my wife has trouble turning her neck far enough to look out the back window. Thanks and regards, Graeme

My wife’s car is a 2016 Fabia 1.2 estate with just rear sensors and it displays a graphic of the back of the car with 4 (I believe) sensors which have bars like Wi-Fi that light up as you get closer to objects along with an audible tone that pulses quicker until it goes continuous as the closest distance.

My 2017 fabia estate SE has the same set up.

Same with front sensors

Yes, same here but I still look in the mirrors when reversing. When I first started using the facility, I actually did a little test at home on the driveway:- I carefully and slowly reversed until the tone was continuous then stopped and got out have a look. The back of the car was still about 35 cms away from the wall which gave me a lot more confidence at my age (77) in using it to reverse in tight situations.

I did something similar, but using cardboard boxes rather than a brick wall.

I have a reversing camera on my Fabia Estate and use it a great deal along with the mirrors.  It has a wide field of view and has screen marks showing a box where the car will fit into.  It is very reassuring to use when reversing up to a wall or post and I frequently park with only 1 or 2 inches to spare!  It is a factory fitted one so I'm not sure how accurate an after market kit would be.
