haunted drivers seat

Featured Replies

Hi All

I have recently bought a 2015 Skoda Superb estate 4x4 and the seat keeps doing its own thing even when I'm driving... I have managed to set 2 of the memory positions on the driver seat but can't get the third to programme.  As I've said the driver seat keeps moving to a position that I can only think was set for someone over 6'5" with very long arms.  as I'm 5'7" this can cause quite the problem when your doing motorway speeds.  The fault seems to be intermittent and erratic so far... I can do a journey with no problem but then the next journey the chair can do its own thing several times in a mile.  I have to say as soon as the chair starts to move, if I press the memory button the chair stops moving then I press and hold the button so it reverts back to my preferred position.  I have even temporarily disconnected 1 of the connector to remove the power from the memory module so I could safely get where I need to go with out the seat moving but obviously I would prefer to have the seat working.

Has anybody come across this fault before?  If so can you advise the best way to fix it?  Do I just need to buy a new memory module? any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

My initial thought here is that the key has retained the original memory setting and the car is trying to revert to the key's stored setting every time you get in. That may be why you can't program setting 3 as well.

To match the key to the memory, move the seat into position, store the memory using the buttons on the seat, then remove the key from the ignition and press the unlock button. You should here a ding from the instruments confirming the setting.

Feels more likely that the buttons have gotten moisture in them so are causing the seat to randomly move...

Thanks for the advise, I've just tried your suggestion but all that happened when i removed the key and pressed the unlock button was the the car simple tried to unlock again.  no bong like you get when you program the seat position.

I did consider this.  Do you know if the button set just clip out of the seat?  I've been trying to find the part number so I can order one on line

IIRC the ignition needs to be on & the door closed for it to work. Beyond that @langers2k's suggestion is worth trying, or see about a diagnostic scan to see if the controller has stored any faults.

all done... doors close, ignition turned on, re-programmed seats with the bong, remove key and pressed the unlock button.   I even tried it several times and holding the unlock button till the windows went down. still no bong with the unlock button.  Thanks for your advice, I need to get the button out of the seat and I'll buy a new button cluster.

can you not swap from the passenger side to test if seat or buttons at fault?

scrub that....i'm an idiot, read the post properly man :wall:

Good thought however only the drivers side seat has the memory buttons

Looks like they pull out if you're careful:

If I were you. I'd move the seat to the correct position and then disconnect the buttons. Keep the buttons in the car and go for a few drives.

Assuming the seat never moves, that points at the buttons. If it continues to move about, then it's something else ;)
