Headlight bulb not working, has been replaced

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just wondering if any of you may have advice, I have a 2010 superb elegance. Dipped headlight bulb (d1s) had blown, replaced it after a week or so, but it has not worked since, both bulbs replaced at same time, both bulbs working in lhsof the car but not the right, have brought it to garage, and was advised there is power going to back of unit, problem appears to be within headlight... They tried launch and a few other systems but could only read not diagnose... Was told to try vcds on same... Anyone know if this is a common issue?

Some may say it could be the headlight ballast. I have no experience in this yet. Someone will be along soon to help.

Thanks! Will read up on that

I have had this problem. The ballast failed and had to be replaced. Fixed the issue straight away. You can check its not the lamp by switching from the other headlight.

The Ballast is a pain in the ass to replace. I had to have it done in a local indy garage after i bought the part. from memory its attached to the bottom of the headlight unit.

Make sure when they fit it the seal it tight. They usually fail because the seal has been compromised.

They aren't cheap. If your headlight unit is damaged its probably worth biting the bullet and replacing the whole unit because that includes the new ballast.
