Alloy wheels..

Featured Replies

I own a Felicia classic in silver, and after getting a bonus I'm deciding if i should go for new shoes for the wee car. Was thinking about something along the lines of these..

Question is though, will 15's fit ok, and theyre also 6.5 inches wide, will this create a problem?

I know my acceleration will go out the window, but I'm already a slow driver haha

Cheers

Well, you need a four stud wheel first.

I like the look of the original 16" seat cupra ibiza wheels.

Yeah, like devonutopia said youll need 4 studs... but 15's will fit no problem, Ive seen a couple of Funs before with 17's but I think with wheels that big they tend to look a bit "4x4y" for me.... The seat cupra ones mentioned are cool, one thing to bear in mind with your original choice is cleaning - itll take for ever. I think 15s are a good choice, cos they look great when the car is lowered onto them a bit more!

cheers for the reply, the pic shows 5 stud, but it comes in 4 stud too and in any offset, so at least I can get an exact match. Is 6.5 inches width too much though? or will it be ok? I'm guessing a spacer may be needed?

Bassy-alex - what tyres do you have on your 15's, and what drop looks best?

Thanks again

Im not sure what the tyres are, i will have a check later. I have lowered my car using just springs, and they said it would go down 40mm, but, sat next to a standard Felicia, it looks a bit more, If you want I can try and post some pictures so you can have a look? I can get the width of mine to if that would help - at least you know if they would fit or not then?

There you go... the tyre size is 190/50 R15, I reckon the wheels your looking at should fit fine, but bear in mind cleaning them!!! Thats the advantage of 5/6 spokes - lots of space to get your hands in! Oh, how much were the wheels that your looking at?

I also have 15' with 7j and 195/50 tyres

Bassy-alex u are so right about the advantage of 5-6 spokes rims when u clean them

the ones i was looking at were around about the

My alloys were a bit of a bargain, £72 with as new condition tyres off of ebay! They have one tiny scuff, but you cant argue for that price. The drop hasnt caused any issues, I dont usually carry many passengers, It at the back once, but I had two pretty chunky blokes, some bass gear in, and it was a bumpy road. The price you are looking at sounds pretty good, if its mail order factor in postage.... Halfrauds have some pretty good wheel offers on sometimes, might be worth a check....

theres always the idea of alloys, non-low profile tyres, and no suspension drop..

you think this would cause stability-esque problems?

i'm thinking of trying ebay.. but for brand new i quite like that price :)

You want to keep to the 195/50 15 to keep the rolling raduius the same.

Nice wheels bassy-alex, i'd be happy to pay

Wasnt a bad buy was it!!! Ive bought the whole car on the cheap, Im a student, so cant really afford to do all Id like to it, I have to wait for cheap bits to come along!!!

What the absolute maximum rim width you'll get on a Fun? I've got 16 x 7.5J wheels and I just tried one on it with no tyre and it looked a bit close to the front shock. Have I gone too wide?

Also, if someone could explain hub adapters to me, because I think I'm gonna need some of them, that would very handy!

Cheers as always,

Dunc

right well, i have 15" 3 spokes lol, i know retro, but they look awsome, i got them off ebay too, but i thikn i got a serious deal, £39 for 4 brand new tyres, and then the alloys they were on, offered for another tenner, so i paid £49 hehe

anyways, about the tyres sizes, 195/50/15 is actually too big, the ones your supposed to have to make it the same as the original ones are 195/45/15, well the're much closer, but on the smaller side. these 3 spokes are 7j wide too, and offset of 34, fit perfect no rubbing, the last set i had rubbed on the inside of the tyres, not sure what on, i never saw, but i think the offet was higher. so that explains it

photo is of old alloys

these are the 3 spokes, and as a side question, i was considering a lowering kit, but apart from the mild difference in looks (from the pics), does it improve the handing??

I like the old alloys :D

they're for sale if you want lol. got 1 good tyre on lol, 3 bald ones

THe lowering sprngs do actually help the handling... make it more pointy and go-karty in feel, also its stiffer so you get less wolo. THere good!
