Passenger door rattle 😡

Featured Replies

Hi guys. I have an annoying rattle coming from the passenger door on my mk2 octy vrs estate, I thought it was coming from the seat belt height adjuster or the seat height adjuster but I’m 99% sure it’s the door. It does only seem to do it more when it’s cold so maybe it could just be the plastic etc rubbing whatever it is is driving me nuts 🤪. Any advise would be most great full

Let someone else drive while you locate the source.

Hi Micmac. I had my mate listen and he said the same as me but knowing where exactly on the door is so hard. I have checked the screws on the door trim and they are both tight and various other bits on the passenger side but all looks ok but you can definitely hear it rattle

I also have a rattle from the passenger door. I only really hear it with loud music with lots of bass.

The funny thing is though is that it's a LHD. So my passenger door is your driver's door.

Sounds like it comes from the bottom of the door somewhere.

Hold a length of hose to your ear and aim the other end.

So maybe it’s speaker related?! Il have a look and see how my bass settings are but would that cause a rattle!

You didn't say anything about when music was playing...

If the speaker is knackered it could well rattle.

No speaker is still working fine same as the others

Best seems to be if you can remove the cartridge and inspect from inside part..

Sometimes when removing and replacing parts could disappear noises for a reason.

Yeah I think that’s gonna be the best bet. Does anyone know how easy the door cards come off

I think there is relevant post in here if you search or there are  YouTube clips also.

If has to do with some bolts and nuts really.

I’ve just had a look on YouTube looks fairly simple so il give it a go see if there’s anything obvious
