Oil service change

Featured Replies

Hi all my 2016 skoda superb oil service change indicator has popped up and am just wondering does anyone know if this involves a minor service or a full service. My dealership seems to think its a full service but other skoda's ive had used to say inspection required full a full service. My car has 56,000 miles with oil changes every 10,000.

@SkodaDean

The Skoda system should know what servicing has been done in the past, so do you know?

When was it done between 2016 and now.

Oil changes each 10,000 miles and what else?

What actually  paid for to be done & done / replaced and shows on the Full Main Dealer Service History if there is one?

(Cars on Variable / Flexible servicing  might have had only one service at 2 years / 18,000-20,000 miles and be due a service now.)

So,

What has been changed in the past, was a pollen filter changed at 2 years.

Was the brake fluid changed at 3 years.

Are they going to do an Oil & Inspection Service now and the Extended Scope, and are they going to change a Fuel Filter, or Spark Plugs or Air Filter and do they need changing.

You do not say what engine or gear box you have.

A DSG can be due and oil change at 40,000 miles, if the car has Haldex that was due a oil change and filter clean at 3 years.

This is the new Skoda Main Dealership menu for car 3-10 year old where the Minor / Interim service and Major Service has been done away with.

Its 2016 2.0 tdi 150 dsg and i purchased it in Aug 2018 with 32,000 miles with the last full service at 30,000. Ever since then its just been having oil changes every 10,000 miles when the oil service change light comes on. Thats why am asking surely if it requires a full service it should tell me on the dash instead of saying oil service change.

There should only be a warning for a Oil Service.  The Inspection Service warnings at a different time / mileage were just stupid.

There is no such thing as a 'Full Service' with Skoda / VW,

they called them Major Services and maybe only Changed Oil & Filter and said other things not scheduled.

So.

Has your cars DSG not had an Oil change at 40,000 miles.  If not that is due.   £199 or so.

Brake Fluid Change £60.

Brake Inspection Free.

Oil & Filter change needed, maybe Pollen Filter, the Air Filter needs checked, maybe replaced.

You need to talk to a technician / master tech and not just the Service Desk person or Service Manager.

As root says, a service is a service regardless of the name. All they do is oil and filter.  They might change air filter if you are lucky/ask for it.  Otherwise the oil changes you have been doing is a fair bit more than it would have got in someone elses hands.  Are you in warranty?  If not then get the following done:

pollen filter

air filter

fuel filter

dsg

haldex (if awd)

brake fluid

The first 3 might be included in a major service but should be cheaper to get them done separately.  The last 3 are extras anyway.

I remember air and pollen filters are individual items now so if you can spare 10mins, you'd save about 35quid doing it yourself. More if you can get cheaper parts.

Pollen filter a bit of a faff but definitely air filter is easy.
