when i brake usually slowly the car will give a little gigle and stall it seems that the brakes grab and the tyres skid but i don't think this is happening just stalls and sometimes it will only give that gigle and not stall just annoying happens in the wrong places i then need to reset the ignition before it will start

cheers Jann

I think the key here is 2.0 auto.

Have it scanned.

its a 2ltr turbo yes not sure what you mean by the key here is 2.0 auto

scanning you mean to test it out

Auto as in it may have some mechatronic fault.

Diagnostic scan performed via OBD to see if the car has logged any DTC.

If your car is a TSI or a FSI engine with a HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP (HPFP), there is an engine performance issue related to the HPFP plunger cam follower wearing thus causing the HPFP to deliver a lesser amount of fuel at lower revs, causing an engine stall. Or daughter's 2007 Octavia 1.6 FSI had  similar problem. Three garages were happy to replace several sensors at considerable cost but could not cure the fault. I got the car to find out whatwas the problem, I removed the HPFP and was startled to see the amount of wear on the cam follower and end of the pump plunger. £25.00 for a new cam follower and £60.00 for a second user HPFP, all from Ebay, cured the fault comepletely.

Thanks for this info i overcome this problem but now i have a issue with the care just wont start ,kicks over for a second then no show, Have replaced Cam/Crank sensor and Fuel Pump now about to replace Fuel Rail Sensor as it just seems though there is not enough fuel to start or keep going

Can anyone help with this issue cheer J

Has the fuel pump been coded to the car?

Hi i believe it has been coded i did ask that ?

does the skoda auto code on most new parts

Hi Jane,

sorry for my late reply, the car is a 2007 Octavia 1.6 FSI and the mechanical high pressure fuel pump didn’t need coding.
Just replace it and it works straight away. Three garages were unable to fix it.

Can you give more details?

So you fixed the stalling problem(how did you do that btw?) then sometime after the car just wouldn't start?

So you then changed the fuel pump and crank sensor and is it doing exactly the same thing as just before you changed these parts, i.e it starts then dies immediately?

Did the car ever start after fixing the stalling problem?

Things to do would be.

Scan for codes.

Check the fuel pressure.

Check for leaks.

Spray some starter fluid into the manifold.
