iPhone battery level indicator

Featured Replies

When I bought my SEL the dealer got me to sit in the car, connect my iPhone 5 via USB and set it up. I rarely (say never) use the phone in the car. However the central display did always show a little battery graphic with the state of charge at the top of the screen.  This was so whether or not the phone was hardwired to the car.

I have recently got an iPhone 8 (another of my son's cast offs). I set up the phone and transferred over the SIM card and it works OK.  However I no longer get the battery graphic on the car's central screen, even when connected via USB to the car. Bluetooth is set up on the phone.

What am I missing?

If you open the PHONE application on the infotainment system, do you see your phone's contacts? If not, it sounds like it isn't linking up properly.

That's a thought. The contacts are there when hard wired, haven't checked otherwise.

Just sat in the car and pressed "Phone". After trying I get the response "Phone not responding", Bluetooth is on.

However, I realised that I was trying to get the car to pair with the phone once I got the phone to search for and pair with the car it worked.

It has imported my Contacts and I now have the battery indicator at the top of the central screen.  Result
