Heater support pump - 2014 Octavia 1.6 tdi

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently had the check engine light come on, which stays on permanently. Using VCDS, I can see this is due to a faulty Heater Support Pump.

As far as I can tell, this part is also known as the Auxiliary Water Pump or Addition Water Pump which circulates coolant for a period of time after switching off the engine.

Before ordering a replacement, I just wanted to ask on here if anyone has had this problem and if anyone knows the correct part number or approximate cost?

Thanks in advance.

I thought the pump ran when the engine was cold as the main water pump is 'closed' and this pump circulates the water in the engine through the heater matrix? i may be wrong. Sorry i have no idea how much they are and don't know of any issues

Thanks, that's good to know.

I replaced this, i bought a used one that only had run 300km for 130£.

Just remove the right front wheel and remove the inner fender and it's easy to reach and replace.

Easy job actually.

That's great, thanks! Exactly the information I was after. Good idea to access it through the wheel arch liner

Just for future reference if anyone else does this job,  the part number for my car was 5Q0965561B and it cost £200 from Skoda :o

I'd also recommend leaving the arch liner in place and remove the engine under tray instead. Access is too limited from the wheel arch.

Then it's not the same on our cars, when i removed the wheel arch there was nothing in the way at all just open space around it.

If your car has a charge cooler, do not mistake it for the pump for that.
