Juddering in first, petrol manual, clutch going?

2015 with 50k miles, getting an occasional judder when pulling away in first.  Clutch is not slipping.  Petrol 1.4 150.

 

Had many petrol manuals over the years (older and with higher mileage) and this would be a first, and no I don't drive hard or ride the clutch. :--)

 

Has anyone had a clutch replacement on the manual, and if so at what age and how much did it cost?

The Wife's megane does this on occasion. Usually when it's damp and cold. It was put down to "the new eco friendly clutch lining materials". Does it have the problem at other times? Like pulling onto dual carriage ways in a high gear and putting your foot down hard?

Go up a hill in 4th or 5th gear, put your foot down and if the revs rise but speed stays the same, your clutch needs replacing. My wife's 13 year old Sirion has 30,000 miles of urban short journeys and it judders on take up in 1st gear occasionally, just like this today on a  damp morning. Otherwise it's fine.

My octavia used to do this. I found slipping the clutch to warn up the plates really helped.

If the spark plugs have never been changed, then change them. The 150ps ACT manual version probably has a DMF, so may be a suspect and certainly needs to be checked out when changing the clutch.

 

Could also be oil contamination on the friction plate causing it.

Skoda said the DMF is always checked at the same time, and sure as eggs are eggs I bet they would want to replace both.  Could be an expensive job.
