Fabia 2 wiring faults

Featured Replies

Hello, some help would be appreciated  as l have a problem. In the past there was a problem with the windows not working traced to a broken wire driver door to  the A pillar. This has now come back suspect another wire broken. But now also  the front wipers are not working (rear wiper ok washers ok). If you sit in the car power on nothing, however if you open the drivers door and actuate the wiper stork you can hear the window relay clicking in but still no wipers. Can this all be related or is it just coincidence.  Also please how do you get to the relays and where is the convenience control unit so I can check for corrosion. Thankyou friends

Have you checked the appropriate fuse for the wipers?

Yes all checked thanks

OK, well the relay that runs the wipers is soldered onto the circuit board inside a control unit above the accelerator pedal. Known by various names like 'onboard supply control unit' or body control module.

More info and diagnostic suggestions shortly.

This post shows one approach to fixing it if it is the relay that's causing the problem, but you need to be sure that it isn't the actual wiper motor before going down that path.  I guess you've tried the full speed setting as well as intermittent and normal speed?

You could also swap in a replacement control unit, scrapyards sell lots on ebay mostly around the £30-50 price range.  You'd ideally read the coding configuration of your existing unit, so that you could re-code any replacement if something doesn't work after the swap.  VCDS required for this.  Buy exactly the same part number as written on your existing one if you go for this solution.
