Hi Chris if it’s the one I think your mentioning it’s at the back of the engine on the top next to the air filter and is a bolt on bolt off part should be an easy jobby to tackle yourself

Hello... my problem is inside the car..

it’s making a clicking grinding noise..

from behind the glove box!!
it happens on start up.. and when ever I press that curly arrow button.. next to the Ac button... it’s called the heater flap motor? Air recirculation flap motor?🤔

Ive looked on you tube..

but it’s never a mk2 fabia... always an old vw video..
I wish it was in the engine bay!!
Thx Chris 😀

@Chris67, yes I agree with you on its likely location, all I know that on the 2000 VW B5 Passat, it was dash out or remove LHS wing and cut an access hole, which did not sound like a plan.

I get the impression from random exposure to VW Group matters, that you can access it after removing the glovebox - though someone on this forum must have needed to replace that flap motor by now.

Does Google not return some "handy" guides if not for Fabia, maybe Polo 9N3 or Ibiza 6L?

Recirc motor is at the extreme end of the dashboard, heater flap one is different/separate.

There may be a cover that can removed to see it. Not sure on a mk2, or mk1 Fabia, but on 9N Polo there's a clip off cover right on the end of the dashboard that you can only see with passenger front door open.

Think lower dash trim and glovebox probably also both need to come out to get sufficient access as it's a fiddly operation. Getting gears to mesh correctly while clipping the thing in place is not easy, but I managed it with biggish clumsy hands so probably not too bad.

Thank You all for the helpful advice..

I’ll try at the weekend.. weather permitting!! Glove box out and try and locate the motor... otherwise I’ll shop around and see if I can get a better price.. to have it done professionally..👍🏼
Thx Chris 😁

I'll pop out soon, after my dinner has digested a bit and see if I can get a photo of it on a mk1, and the end cover that may or may not be the same on a mk2.

No, you can't see anything useful with just that end cover removed, I mis-remembered.

Thx for trying.. 👍🏼👍🏼
I think even if I can get the motor into the open position!! Then that will stop the car from misting up! Then I’ll have air circulation.. and I can stop using the Ac as much.. 🤞🏼
Thx again Chris 😀
