Sunroof NEW Superb

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I am about to buy a Superb IV 2020 sedan with sunroof. Should I expect any big problems with the sunroof. Mostly wind noise and the like while it's closed?

Welcome to the forum.

Surely after all the years Skoda have designed and built cars including different generations of the Superb  you should not expect any issues like wind noise, issues with leaks or failures.

If there will be is a totally other matter as they seem to not have actually addressed the matters in all car models up to now.

@dankatar  The sunroof came on the demo Sportline that I bought four years ago. It has a sliding window shade that acts as additional sound insulation. I have not been aware of any noise coming from the roof. I have not had any leaks or problems of any sort. On the days when it's fair enough to open the sunroof, it's very pleasant up to about 40-50 mph. On other days, it's nice just to have the shade to let the sun in. I wouldn't have specified it myself, but I'm glad I have it.

No wind noise at all while it's closed, personally I'm happy with it and would buy it again.

I feel more sceptic about the sunroof... I had a bad experience with my former Superb Mk2. The sunroof chassis had cracked after 5 years and a half and roughly 115000km. It lead to leakages along the A-pillar, whose cover got regularly wet under heavy or long rain... This should have cost me ~2500 € (parts + working hours) to get it repaired ! Fortunately my local dealer helped me to make Skoda France pay 70% of the bill. Note: I had also told him, that depending on Skoda France decision; I would order him a MK3 L&K TDI190 4x4 Estate... or not... I don't know if it helped, but...

Today my MK3 Estate has a panoramic sunroof as standard spec (I wouldn't have specced it if I could...). But I use it as little as possible. OK, on beautiful days, it's nice to stow the shade, to enjoy the light and the landscape on trip to skiing... ;) But that's all, to me and I could easily live w/o it...

To me, a fix  panoramic roof with foldable shade would be enough. I don't need the sunroof to open. No risk of leakage, nor malfunction issue..."

Indeed, I've read some cases of sunroof leaks on Audi Q3 Mk2.

My 2018 sportline has the sunroof, no issues at all so far with noise from the roof or any signs of leaking.

have opened it up a few times but can’t really see myself ever using it, just happened to have been specced by the original purchaser/dealer so it’s there.

I do like the look of the black glass on the roof though and the view from inside is nice when I look up.
