Sleeping in a plugged in iV

Featured Replies

Hi folks, first topic in here but've been a Skoda owner for years and have always found this forum helpful.

For a month or so I have been a very pleased Superb iV owner. Now starting to plan for this coming summer's vacations, a possibility has crossed my mind; camping in the car.

Here in Sweden we have a lot of caravans and RV:s and as a result a lot of well equipped camp sites who offers electricity on the camp spot.

Would it be possible to run the AC of the car while plugged in (or running on the HV battery plugged out) and get a similar feature as Camp mode which is offered by Tesla?

Best regards,

Apeshaft

Welcome to the forum.

No idea about your Superb iV but i have slept overnight in my e-Corsa with it plugged into a AC charger and with the Heater / AC running, windows a little open and wind deflectors fitted.

I know someone that travels lots sleeping in their Nissan Leaf and doing the same as me, but they have a foldable bed platform.

Thank you for your reply!

That is exactly what I am after.

Mine also has the panorama sunroof which could be opened while keeping the shade net closed which should give plenty of ventilation if needed while keeping the bugs out.

I sat in the car today and tried turning on AC and ventilation while it was plugged in, but it didn't work so I guess I am forced to use the Skoda Connect app.

The obvious problem with that option is that it will only run until set temperature is reached while I want a functionality that sustains a temperature over time. Otherwise I will probably have to turn it on again in the middle of the night.

Is it possible to add multiple cycles? Say set temp to 21deg target 1am then another for 2am and so on.

A bit of faff but you will maintain the temp then.

That's a good idea, will try and report.

It is rather toastie IMO inside a car inside a sleeping bag (hat on head) at around 19*oC even when outside the temp is below freezing.

It does not take much to keep a vehicles interior at that temp without the need to have the fan being noisy.

Much more comfortable IME than being out under canvas.

This might be a bad idea - there was a thread here a year or two back about folk who got tree leaves trapped between the shade and the glass, with no way of getting them back out again.
