New VRS collected with a few questions dealer have been unable to answer as yet

Featured Replies

Hi folks

As per the title I picked up my new VRS Tsi yesterday evening . No pictures as yet due to the horrendous weather and lack of light

My car was a non DCC equipped car however I note when in drive mode selection there is an option under the individual settings for ‘chassis’ with the options of either normal or sport. I tried switching between the two but couldn’t really notice any discernible difference. Any ideas as to what this would actually adjust?

I do not appear to have the sound enhancement activated and cannot find the option to change it anywhere. I seen a few videos of the Mk8 gti where this was changed in the individual drive mode setting but there is no such option on mine. I simply want to test it, again anyone any ideas?

Has anyone managed to change the power units from kw and nm?

I’m overly very impressed with the cat apart from the bloody lane assist which is overly intrusive. I will have to find a way to disable that and stop start somehow

Thanks

  • Yes, or alternatively you can program it into the drop down favourites menu. I added it and the esc in there. I just despise the system especially when coupled with the dsg. The infotainment can on oc

  • I need to learn how to do that...more reading of the manual to be done :( Picture of mine...Quartz Grey...it gets a lot of looks which I wasnt expecting!

I turned start stop off with Carista on my old car. Not got the Octavia yet, next week hopefully, and I'll be looking to do the same if it's an option on Carista

Hi there Stop/Start can be disabled by pressing the Set up key, lane assist disabled from s/wheel button on rhs...

Same here...no sound actuation in Sport or Individual mode...

Yes thanks however I want to permanently disable stop start and lane assist. Or at least have them reversed so that they’re defaulted to off.

does you car have DCC fitted?

Thanks

Ahh...understood !

Don't believe there is a way to permanently disable these unfortunately...

No mine doesn't have the DCC, however the ride comfort I find is still good after being in previous 2 cars with run flats...

Did yours come with the heated steering wheel as standard?

Apparently this is now part of the "comfort pack" which is a £600 option which also includes heated widscreen and heated washer nozzles...

It's a very well specced car bar reverse camera..

Yes mine came with heated wheel. Agree with you re the specs.

I've never had a rear camera before and wouldn't bother with it either as sensors always been enough for me personally.

My car is also non dcc. I'm starting to think the sound actuator is maybe linked to the DCC pack.

I only want to try it out as when I go for a more spirited drive in manual mode the engine needs to be heard to get the best shift points etc

I'm hoping the hardware is there and it just needs activated as such

But this is a two click operation, right? First you need to press setup key and then press start/stop button on the screen?

I hope someone will find a way to disable (or reverse) the start/stop function soon. This is one of the most annoying functions on new cars. Right after lacking of physicals buttons on the dash.

Yes, or alternatively you can program it into the drop down favourites menu. I added it and the esc in there. I just despise the system especially when coupled with the dsg. The infotainment can on occasion take a few mins to get up and running which I’m hoping will improve in the future with an update

Its more like 3 click tbh..

Step 1 Press Set Up key

Step 2 Press Start/Stop on Screen

Step 3 Press Set Up key to return back to Home Screen

Bit of a pain but getting used to it now...

I need to learn how to do that...more reading of the manual to be done :(

Yh..my 1st choice was the Meteor Grey but would have been waiting till April for it to be built plus wouldn't have the heated steering wheel which is awesome in this cold weather...

So what was your 1st choice of colour?

Pull the drop down menu down then press and hold one of the icons. You the get the option to re-order and replace some of the favourites. Takes a bit of back and forward to get it to your liking

I usually debadge my cars and have removed the octavia and vrs from the back. I’ve had half a dozen people ask me what is was in admiration. The front vrs badge is however plastiwelded on.

Yh awesome colour that really contrasts with the black grill/wing mirrors/honeycomb lower grill/ and "fake" rear air vents 👍

Oh and the rear spoiler...which I think looks great!

I was thinking of doing that but had a bad experience when I asked this to be done on my previous car by Merc dealership...muppets must have used a screwdriver covered with a towel to prize the badges off which left little paint chips around that area! 😡

Must Google how to properly do this as I think it will make the rear of the car look cleaner...

Bit of heat to soften adhesive then I use an old bank card or similar. Or dental floss. Usually only a bit of residue to be removed but will not mark paint or damage the badges
