How to insert Bluetooth OBD2 scanner into port

Featured Replies

Bit of a basic question but I bought one of those elm327 Bluetooth mini scanners. It doesn't seem to fit into the OBD2 port, if it is indeed an OBD2 port, maybe it's OBD1. 2008 Octavia. The shape of the port looks more rectangular than the shape of the scanner interface. It doesn't look the right fit but maybe it is. I didn't want to force it Incase I broke it?

Sometimes they are a bit of a tight fit so you may have to trim the plastic surrounds on the car.

You will have to grind down the casing on the bluetooth casing and even then it needs a lot of persuading, if you can find a cabled OBDII reader or another plug that first you will see the size you need to get down to, the housing on the Octavia 2 has no clearance for anything but the standardised plug.

as above the dash panel surrounding the port is stupidly tight. bit of trimming (possibly both the dashboard and the dongle) and it will, with persuading, go in.

Hi,

my blue tooth OBD Eleven dongle is a very tight fit which I found very difficult to remove so I have strong cord around the body as a pulling out harness.
