Does a GLX come with Remote Locking?

Featured Replies

Hi.

I've been driving the 2000+ octavia's for a fair while as company cars, which meant that i've been scooting around the market for one to own for myself.

However, being a cheap skate, i've just put money down on a 1998 1.9TDi GLX Hatch because i really needed a car, it was within my budget.

However, I'm trying to work out what the GLX should have - the keys that came with the car have a button on them, but the car doesnt' respond to them being pressed :( - i don't know if it should or not.

Cheers!

Flat battery?

If there is a button i would guess it would do something.

Aye, will try. Am picking it up tonight (private sale) so will double check batteries etc then.Seems wierd that 2 x keys would fail though, wondering wether it's the remote sensor in the car that's died.

Might be useful is the spec for an octy 1.9TDi GLX on parkers

Aye, had tried that, doesn't list it - it only has "central locking", and remote locking isn't listed as an option.

Has anybody got the full options list and how to decode it?

I have a photo of the options page from under the boot liner...

If the remote has a lock and unlock button on it then it has remote locking.

More than likely needs new batteries and reprogramming.

My old '98 S plate Octy estate didn't have remote locking, only key operated central locking. The button on the key is for a little light to illuminate the lock when in the dark.

I had a W reg 2.0l GLXi and that was the same.

I have a 99 MY GLX and as mentioned remote locking is not in the spec. However mine HAS remote locking as I had the optional alarm fitted when I bought it. Setting the alarm also operates the window closers and the courstey light on/off. I think it cost about £240 fitted at the time.

Ahhhh.. that would explain the button!

It's a shame the car doesn't come with an alarm or auto closing windows, but for

If you look at the newer elegance it describes it as remote central locking.

Really useful there then, bleeding parkers.

Cheapest way to add remote central locking would to be to get a mid range car alarm with the feature on it such as clifford G5 concept 600/650 (forget eh exact model number) which would add the alarm and has a feautre for remote lock/unlock.
