Wireless connectivity problem

Featured Replies

I’ve had my MKIV First Edition SE-L for a week now and love 95% of it.
I am having problems with my iPhone 11 Pro that when it connects to the car wirelessly it shows it is connected by WiFi and then refuses to do anything. CarPlay won’t stream, Apple maps and Google maps won’t plan routes and when parked I can not access any of the phones internet applications. Popped into the dealers today to see if they could spot what I had done wrong but they were just as confused. Anyone else had any problems?

No problems with my previous iPhone 8 or new 12 Pro Max so far. Sometimes, if switching to CarPlay on the infotainment menu, the screen is black and only restarting infotainment system helps.

I’ve got an iPhone 9 and have no end of problems.

The phone seems to have a mind of it’s own as to whether it will pair up via Bluetooth; and if it does, there’s no guarantee that it’ll stay paired.
If I connect it via Apple CarPlay, it disconnects itself when it feels like.

I need to be able to take calls from work when in the car and at the moment I can’t guarantee that I’m able to do so - its infuriating to hear your phone ringing, but not being able to safely answer it.
Graeme, are you trying to connect via the smartLink option on page 1 of the Menu?

I’ve tried every way I can think off. The phone will connect automatically. If it doesn’t connect it will sometimes through the smart link. Either way the phone shows the WiFi connection and becomes practically useless. On CarPlay the maps will load and show my position and follow it but will not calculate routes. I can phone but my wife says it’s almost like I drop out and then come back.

I had the issue where phone connected stuff worked and then it stopped, in settings - wifi - devices - phone there is a little symbol of the internet i clicked this off and it worked ever since as my phone thought i was trying to connect to the car wifi and not stream over wifi, never had any issues since doing this

Didn’t work at 1st, couldn’t find the internet symbol, so in a huff deleted phone and forgot the car from the phone for the 2nd time. This time found the symbol and turned it off and everything seems to be working. So thanks for tip. 👏👍🏻
