VRS 230 TSI Service schedule

Featured Replies

Hi all, I've been considering getting an Octavia VRS Estate, preferably a petrol / TSI.

I've found one I quite like the look of - 2017 with 50k mls.

However the service history shows the first service was carried out a year after delivery but with the mileage at 20k mls.

There second servce was another 15 k mls later.

I'm mildly concerned about this, should I be?  I'd value anyone elses opnion.

Thanks

Some were set at variable or fixed service plans. I wouldnt worry about it being a bit late as it looks like it was mainly driven on motorways etc given the high milegae in the first year. You can switch to a fixed service. The good thing is you have service history. It wouldn't put me off from buying it.

20,000 is possibly slightly late, as variable servicing runs to a max of something like 18,600 on the mileage counter for oil but it wouldn't unduly worry me if the price was right

Edit - it's entirely possible this has happened completely innocently too - I nearly got caught out with my first service, as I was doing a lot of miles routinely, I phoned up to book in with about 1500 miles to go until due and was surprised to find that the first two dealers i tried couldn't book me in for about 10 weeks which would have sent me way past - luckily the third place i tried could do it in 2 or 3 weeks which was fine. If there is a lack of local dealers where the car is based and the owner wanted to maintain Skoda history, he may have just been caught out with how far in advance some dealerships seem to operate.

20,000 miles for the first service at 12 months old happens so easily.  Not an issue.

The Service Guidelines are 18,500-20,000 miles / 24 months on variable servicing with VW Group,

and a high mileage driver gets to 18,000 miles and gets a 'Service due'  warning on the car, calls the dealership to book a service and they can not get you booked in for a few weeks, maybe a month.

So there you are the car goes and gets it's first service and that is at 20,000 miles.    This happens regularly so in other words is common with high annual mileage users.

If your car is going by time like 372 days Fixed, or 24 Months Variable then a wait for an appointment is no big deal if the car does low miles per week.

So,

?

If the car has a FMDSH does that full main dealer history of servicing to the manufacturers guidelines show as having the Pollen Filter replaced @ 2 years?

The brake fluid at 3 years so this year?

Did the air filter and spark plugs get replaced at the 2nd Major Service or anytime since like at 40,000 miles.

Or even checked?

If the car has a DSG was that serviced at 40,000 miles or sooner?

Many thanks for all your replies.

It’s had a brake fluid change this year, all other services appear to be oil / filter other than a ‘micro filter’ after a year.

it’s a manual, so no DSG service.
