2009 1.9tdi Octavia rear swaying out of control

Featured Replies

Hi All

New to the Forum and find it great already!!

I just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the problem or knows a fix for it as I am gone to the point of afraid to drive it.

The problem is that when im driving the car along the rear of the car begins to sway as though the 2 rear wheels are loose, no noise just swaying.

I brought it to my mechanic and he changed

2 rear shocks

2 rear calipers

2 rear axle bushes

and 2 rear Camber arm inner bushes and bolts

Still it sways and the mechanic is baffled as to what it is,

Has anyone any idea or had the same issue, no real information on the problem online.

Any help appreciated

Sounds like your mechanic is fleecing you.

Have your tyres checked, wheels and alignment.

Oh yes sorry I put on different tires and he got it the 4 wheel alignment and still no joy,

It is worth checking if the rear track control wishbone arms bushes are not worn as if worn will cause the rear end to feel loose.

These are the parts I'm referring to

If mechanic hasn't already checked, and given what he has already done he should have, get the springs looked at. I have a 2007 and it has had 3 replacement springs over the past 12 years. It's not always easy to spot broken springs.
