Best front tyres for smother ride

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I have a 2015 superb 2 litre diesel with 136500 miles on clock

i keep all servicing up to date and have also replaced all springs and shocks but still find that it doesn’t handle bumps as smoothly as I would like

i have two winter tyres on the front and wonder if anyone could recommend the best tyres for a better ride and handling of bumps

Hiya,

What size is your current wheel and tyre combination and what pressure are you running them at? (My winter setup is 205 55 16 and it is lovely, even with a few more PSI in.

To each their own, but its not generally recommended to mix winter and summer tyres. Best have a full set of either.

@DSgformeAs asked above, what wheel size and tyre size are on the car.

&

what are the winter tyres you have on the front and what are on the rear as in Brand / name, and do you run these at pressures lower than the ECO pressures that might show for your car?

It sounds like you have 17" or larger rims, as 16" rims with standard 205/55R16 tyres would give a comfortable ride.

As you can see from the above charts, the 16" rims come in two different widths and offsets. One rim size is a wide 7Jx16 ET45, and the other rim size is a narrow 6Jx16 ET50. With 205/55R16 tyres, the narrower 6J rim will give a better ride than the wider 7J rim.
