Does SE L model have xenon or Led dipped beam

Featured Replies

Looking at replacing our mk 2 VRS with a mk3 Octavia  16/66 reg.to pay less tax.

Want xenons or LED dipped beam as a minimum.

I have searched but cannot find a defininitive answer

I know SE L has headlight washers and usually these are only fitted if you have xenons. But adverts for cars listed dont mention  it. This is the model I am considering.

Any help appreciated thank you

16/66 should be pre-facelift if memory serves. They came with halogens as standard and xenons as an option. Facelift models (17+) came with LEDs.

Thank you and that explains my confusion when searching  as 17 reg often have xenon quoted

So looks like my decision will be £30 or less road tax and halogen or £130  and LED

Or 16/66 Superb SEL  for similar money and xenon!

I’d pick whichever has the spec you want. Choosing a car to save £100 a year on tax when you’re going to lose thousands in depreciation has never made sense to me.

I keep a car 10 plus years, had current one 12, so that's an extra £1000 and is for me important.

The running cost savings are part of our calculation to change, potentially saving us £1,000 plus a year over the VRs.

Depreciating on the other hand is not an issue like we plan with our current car we would give it to a friend.

My 2.0 tdi dsg SEL registered March 2016 has halogens and headlight washers. I've recently changed the bulbs to Osram Nightbreakers lasers  for the dipped beam (H7) and Cool blue intense for the full beam ( H15) which also has the drl bulb as part of it. Easy to change them out. They are a good improvement especially the full beam. Punches through the dark very well.

I'm very pleased with the spec on the SEL. About they only thing it does not have is adaptive cruise control (but it does have Front Assist) and Smartlink (for android auto or apple car play) is not activated but can live without that.

Regards.
