What OEM part number is your front shock absorber?

There are two different strut outside diameters used on the Octavia MK3, 50mm and 55mm. Are you sure you have purchased the correct one?

See the below links for all the potential OEM numbers that the shock absorber might be. Notice that the PR codes are listed against each OEM number to help identify what the car came with out of the factory.

It should be correct, as you gave the seller your reg number.

Unless the damper is broken I wouldn't change it just yet.

Just thought it would be better to change both around same time

@Darmhow often in months are 10,000 mile services coming around with your car used as a Taxi?

Not at present but roughly do 30k a year think its starting to mist like other one

@Darmsome have misting for years and are on a Service Advise or MOT Advisory annually.

You are as well to change it then since your car is at a garage so regularly.

?

Any reason you are not doing Oil & Filter changes on a Variable servicing interval so 18,000-20,000 miles and just doing visual inspections regularly between Oil Changes?

Have always serviced my taxi at 10000 interval keep on top of it end of the day my working tool and for the sake of £80 for filters and oil why not its hardly ever at the garage i believe for that reason and why would skoda change one shocker and not both although cant complain as it was done under warranty im fortunately I've got a very good mechanic 30 yr plus expierance as a friend who looks after me

@DarmThey change only one because they get away with that.

Not with me though, i have had them replace a pair of springs under warranty when the Master Tech was only supporting a claim for replacing the broken one.

The car would have been blocking the Dealership Entrance with a Big Sign on it and balloons attached and a photograph sent to the local papers.

Whilst not advised on MOT my old Scout had a misting shock for nearly 2 years with no issues, it did eventually give up the ghost

Not with me though,

I'd have guessed at warranty only replacing one, but I would have paid and had other side done as well at same time.  No way I'd drive a car with different aged shocks.   I've tried arguing with warranty before and got no where.

Assume this is same brand as other side that was replaced under warranty?

A suppose the car being used as taxi it generally carrying more passengers than most cars bought it now will quietly leave it in boot along way service kit and wait fir ma mechanic to demand i owe him a pint or two 😆
