New brake pads and fluid

Featured Replies

I think i need to change the pads and discs on our yeti.  We have done 80k miles and we havent changed the pads or fluid once.

So i need to get this done.  Is this normal wear and tear or should i have been changing the fluid earlier in its life.  Its now 7 yrs old.

Looking at the discs there are different sizes.  Is it better to go for a bigger size ?

should i be doing the rear as well ?

Service manual recommends changing brake fluid at 3 years and every 2 years thereafter.

AS @Urrell says, break fluid needs regular changing as per the service schedule.

With regard to replacement discs and pads, you need to replace like with like. You've had your moneys worth out of them with 80k covered !:)

Are you are doing the job yourself?

Any idea what disc size i need as on car parts 4 less i have 2 choices: 280/288/312 mm

My car is 2013 yeti adventure, 2 wheel drive, 2L Diesel

280 i think, i have a 4x4 adventure, 140 and that takes 288mm

yes i checked with skoda.  280 x 22mm.

The ones on car part 4 less are 280 x 19mm.  Does it matter that they are thinner ?  It says on the spec "minimum thickness"

the choices  i can get are:

Pagid

ATE

Brembo

Bosche

The cheapest start with pagid.  Any ideas which are better to get ?

I have been very pleased with Pagid brakes and very happy to recommend. Have used CarPart4less, very efficient.
