Skoda Fabia MKII 2010 Wet footwell behind driver

Featured Replies

Hi I hope someone can help. Wet footwell behind the driver. Happens when it rains so assume ingress of water from somewhere. I have searched and see it is a common problem on the Fabia. I have taken the door card off and the door is 1 solid piece so cannot do the fix with sealant around the metal plate as shown in some you tube videos.

Seals around door and frame all seem good, it appears the car has been garaged, so all over body is in good condition.

Is there a common source of the leak?

Can I easily find the cause?

Any feedback much appreciate.

Overall its a lovely car, so I'm a disappointed about the leak.....:(

Welcome to the forum.

?

Did you see on here that it is a common issue?

It is with Mk1's as far as i know, not with Mk2's.

Common is the rear windows dropping a little bit.

Also water in the spare tyres well.  That is via the rear lights, and sometimes the re\r flaps that are hidden by the bumper.

Common at the front is the driver or passenger leaning on the seal at the top of the door and bending it and it not sealing well to the roof.

Sadly some MK2's also suffer with this water issue, firstly check the drain holes at the bottom of the doors it's like a little split with a small gap in the middle usually 2 are present on each door as if these are blocked you will get water in O

Ours started after  18 months old, it was the rear door plastic covering under the trim panel that had been cut after we took the car back after 17 months  old to have the rear window motor replaced, they did that ok but did not replace the plastic seal that's stuck in place, took it back 3 times with water leaking in footwell and  they blamed everything else.... door seal bottom trim hatch seal rear lights etc got so fed up with excuses i had a look myself when it was raining so removed the rear panel  myself and noticed that the water was running down in the  door by window seals (which is normal) and  instead of running out through drain holes it was dripping from edge of the door below seal into the rear footwell , I just bought some  waterproof duct tape and sealed up cut and went over where it was still stuck on the bottom and around the edges, left it with panel off for a few days and never had any water in again so cured it in one go
