2 cylinder symbol flashing

Featured Replies

Good evening All, just over a week in my new Karoq SE L, and I've done a whopping 45 miles thus far lol!!

Anyway, I can remember when having a test-drive in same trim back in December and often saw a '2 cylinder' light flash up on the standard analogue cockpit! My new one has digital cockpit and haven't seen same light flash up even once yet! I've seen 'Eco' flash up a few times but I've read that's something different..

Any thoughts plse? Will the engine perhaps need to loosen up do you think, or will that light never show on my digital/virtual cockpit?

Thanks in advance

Andrew

Haven't seen it either on digital cockpit. Where did you see "ECO" means something different? My owners manual says:

Typical VW Group complicated terminology ( transmission rolls in neutral ? :notme: ) .

All they had to say was:

> 2-Cylinder mode

> DSG coasting

Hi, I may be misreading it but plse see below:-

I read it that you should perhaps see either 2cyl or Eco, although they are probably the same thing lol!?

I guess it's because I saw the 2cyl flash up in the demo car, so just expected the same with my new Karoq, albeit mine has the virtual cockpit..

Not hugely important as such, just getting used to it atm, and seeking the wisdom of you guys..:)

ECO means 2 cylinder mode.

Given that you have your digital cockpit set to classic view (circular RPM gauge on the left, circular speedometer on the right), then whenever the engine is operating in 2-cylinder mode the tiny "eco" symbol will appear slightly left of center in the top row of the digital cockpit. But to also see the actual wording "2-cylinder mode", then you need to set your center field to display actual fuel consumption.

Perhaps there are additional ways, but hope that helps.

I'm glad to hear it worked! 😃

So whenever that "eco" symbol is displayed you can from now on rest assured that your engine is running in 2-cylinder mode. ✌🏻🥳 But I have to admit that there is something satisfying with also reading it in plain text.. 😁

And as Scot5 pointed out in an earlier post, the "eco" symbol might also mean that, in case of DSG, the gearbox is coasting. Which in turn can only happen with driving mode set to Eco. Gear indicator will in that case display an "E" instead of a "D".

Oh I also saw Coasting in text a few times today also, but the Driving mode was Normal. I haven't even selected Eco mode yet tbh..

Being Scottish I have "current mpg" as one of the displays on the digital cockpit. When I see it read between 200mpg and 300mpg going downhill when my foot off the accelerator, I couldn't care if the engine is runnnig on 16 cylinders and overrevving.  :D

Seriously, the transition from 4cyl to 2cyl is impressively seemless - I can't detect it.
