Would it be much trouble getting the Sputnik alloys on a sport rather than the Pegasus? They seem to be the same price in the accessories brochure.

I do like the 06 sport though! No dealer seems to have one with the sunset glass on it, but i've seen the pictures around an it looks good... I think i'll end up with a proper gansta car :p

The DSG box is an electro mechanical gearbox so you should not get any loss in fuel consumption and if you allow the shift management to operate and not try to over ride it it will give a better fuel economy than you achieve with a stick shift.

It is a great gearbox and having just come back from using it on those great French roads it works very well when coupled up with the Cruise Control, which all adds up to making driving a pleasure and not a chore.

I beg to differ. The official govt combined mpg figure for the manual car is better than the DSG. I regularly throw my car out of gear and coast to a stop at traffic lights etc. On the DSG you would have to override shift management to acheive that.

The maximum fuel economy whilst maintaining a low enough gear to negotiate inclines without changing down is attained at peak torque and on the 2.0 TDI this is around 2,500rpm. You can't maintain that in auto mode with a DSG as it will change up before this and the unnecessary change down again will use more fuel because it takes more energy in raising the revs up from about 2000rpm to 2500 rpm.

I don't doubt the official mpg of the DSG and agree that it almost lossless in comparison to the manual box but in order to match the official or potential economy a correctly driven manual car you would need to drive the DSG in manual mode.

If driven correctly the manual car will always give better economy than the DSG anyway because it's 40kg lighter.

That is of course just my opinion and given the choice again i'd have gone for the DSG.

Get the tinted glass option - I did' date=' and with today being hot and sunny (HOORAY!) I'm very glad I did.

Far better than the silly light assist thingy[/quote']

looks excellent too, i saw one with the other day
