2014 vrs tdi engine squeak sound.

Featured Replies

hi guys

I have just had Cambelt changed and waterpump and AUX belt.

All dayco.

now I notice there is a frog like sound coming from aux/Cambelt area squeaking. it's not loud.

is it common for dayco aux belts to make a squeaking sound.

If so are try a different make of aux belt. noticed it when the engine is cold.

any advice?

thankyou

it's a CHIRP like sound

If I'm doing a stab in the dark, I'd say it's going to be a roller/pulley/tensioner. Did they say were replacing a full kit?

Is it worse if you start the engine from cold and stick the headlights on (basically load up the alternator)?

hi Steve thanks for the fast reply, haven't had time to have a good look. will do tomorrow. yeah all pulleys/tensioner changed on Cam belt.

aux belt changed not tensioner. it's a CHIRP like sound. are load the alternator tomorrow see if sound changes.

The sound doesn't get any louder.

Sounds like either a slightly slipping belt or an overly tight belt putting stress on a pulley.

Happened to me. Replaced all the aux belt tensioners and pulleys when getting the timing belt replaced and it went away.
